Palermo and Monreale
Discover the city of Palermo, with the wonderful Arab-Norman Cathedral, the Norman Palace - seat of the Sicilian Parliament - and, inside, the famous Palatine Chapel of 1130.
Walk along the ancient Corso Vittorio Emanuele and admire the superb facades of the palaces and churches built during the Baroque period.
Head to the Fontana Pretoria, popularly known as the Fountain of Shame, and visit the church of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, with its cloister, another splendid example of Baroque art. Finally, enjoy a small tasting of typical Sicilian dishes.
In the afternoon, departure towards Monreale, the wonderful Arab-Norman village built around the Cathedral of Santa Maria Nuova, declared by Unesco "World Heritage Site".
The Cathedral of Monreale is known worldwide for its mosaics, which form a total area of over 6,000 square meters, which includes over 130 Byzantine mosaics.
