Private Tour Etna and Taormina 35’
Arrival of passengers at private helipad, welcome drink and briefing with the HeliSicily pilot.
After take-off, the flight will proceed in the direction of the northern side of the volcano in the municipalities of Piedimonte Etneo, Linguaglossa and, ascending, you will be able to admire the majestic coniferous forest and the old lava flows that descend towards the Etna villages, almost touching them.
Heading further and further towards the top you will fly over the ski resort of Piano Provenzana with a unique look at the 2002 flows that formed the series of craters called "La Bottoniera". Here, the vegetation stops and the sciara takes over and will accompany you up to the majestic view of the 4 summit craters.
We will be at around 3500 metres above sea level with a view extending across the whole of Sicily, the Aeolian Islands and Calabria. We will begin the descent along the wildest side of the volcano to reach the Etna Sud ski resort and the Sapienza refuge. From here, you will enjoy a unique view of the city and the Gulf of Catania.
Proceeding eastwards we will fly over the old Silvestri craters and we will pass on the "donkey's back" which gives access to the enormous Valle del Bove. We will admire the 2002 lava flows that destroyed the town of Zafferana Etnea.
We will continue to descend in altitude to reach the Riposto marina, a very well-known and popular tourist port and from there, along the coast flying over the beaches and the turquoise sea, we will reach Giardini Naxos, the Greek excavations and fly up towards Taormina (the famous Sicilian tourist attraction) to admire the Greek theatre and the castle, and then we will navigate down towards the gulfs and inlets of Capo Taormina, Isola Bella and Castelmola. After a last look at the coast and the castle of Calatabiano, we will return to the helipad.
Mineral water, welcome drink and coffee will be included.
Transfer to and from the helipad is not included
