Are you seeking a relaxing wine experience this summer? Discover the aromas of Sicily's finest wineries with the Wine Sicily Experience, set against the stunning backdrop of Mangia's Pollina Resort.

The experience will feature a tasting session with a sommelier, showcasing three selections from Tenute Orestiadi, a winery located in Gibellina, in the heart of Sicily. This area, renowned for viticulture due to its sunny and breezy climate, enables the estate to produce wines that reflect the diverse grape varieties cultivated across Sicily, from the Valle del Belìce to the slopes of Mount Etna. These include white, red, and rosé wines, both blends and single varietals, certified DOC and IGT.

Wine Sicily

Wine Sicily is an initiative founded in Palermo five years ago, involving 40 wineries and more than 300 wine selections annually. Its goal is to promote the viticultural, gastronomic, and touristic heritage of Sicily, welcoming all enthusiasts in the sector.

Approach to Wine

Approaching wine tasting is not just a matter of technique; it is an art that is complex and perfected through experience and passion. The guide provided in this "approach to wine" is ideal for those who are not experts but wish to enjoy a good glass of wine and learn to pair it with dishes and recipes.

Experience

The initial approach to wine naturally involves the senses: wine should be tasted, smelled, and "breathed." Therefore, the goal is to understand its elements through the senses.

Learn to identify the correct temperature at which to serve and taste wine, as temperature affects the flavor and smoothness of the wine. Choose the right glass according to the type of wine being served or tasted, as the glass should adequately contain the wine to fully enjoy its flavors and aromas.

Understand how to pair a good wine with a well-prepared dish; when matched correctly, they create a combination that offers a superior tasting experience. Pairing revolves around two fundamental principles: balance and tradition.
